FBM Corporate Finance assisted the shareholders of TWI and WSSN in this transaction.
Just before the turn of the year, the signatures were signed for Montapacking ‘s acquisition of two fulfillment companies in Nieuwveen, namely WSSN and TWI. Edwin van der Ham, director of Montapacking, says: “The corporate cultures of WSSN and TWI fit well with those of Montapacking; customer-oriented and no nonsense. So together we quickly agreed”. Both WSSN and TWI have a loyal clientele of about 100 web shops, for which they provide the fulfillment with an enthusiastic team of about 65 people.
Consolidation
Van der Ham continues: “It is expected that only a few major players will remain in the fulfillment industry. This is due to the enormous growth in the online market in recent years. As a result, your IT systems as a fulfillment company must be set up in such a way that you can not only switch quickly, but also scale up effectively. We are prepared for that challenge. Every two years, we double our capacity as a fulfillment company, allowing our customers to grow almost without limit. And they seize this opportunity immediately. In fact, we see that on average our customers are growing twice as fast as the market.”
Cultures match
The way of working and the culture within the three companies match well. “We notice in daily practice that optimal logistics, both for ordering and returns, are crucial for the growth and prosperity of a webshop. Within our organizations, people get a kick out of the success of our customers, because together we contribute to that growth,” says Van der Ham. “Enthusiastic and Excellent are not our core values for nothing. We are convinced that the new colleagues in Nieuwveen will also quickly feel at home with the Monta family”.Eelko Hoekstra (branch manager WSSN/TWI): “These core values and the general culture within Montapacking is completely in line with ours. This has had a great impact on our decision, as a large part of our people have been working here for decades.”
Decentralized
Montapacking is decentralized; this creates a relative small scale, keeping lines of communication with customers short, even though the company is one of the largest and fastest growing fulfillment companies in the Netherlands. This way of working will therefore also be deployed at the new facility in Nieuwveen. To keep growing, scaling up is crucial. The current acquisition of two fulfillment companies therefore fits well with Montapacking’s growth strategy.

Montapacking wants to make e-commerce even more fun and better every day, for its employees, for webshops and for their customers. Montapacking has traditionally had a strong focus on IT and innovation. All IT systems are developed in-house. Montapacking invests heavily in data-science, AI and robotics in its own warehouses.
